More on NECC 2008 and dissertation

If you are not a member of the NECC 2008 Ning, you need to go there now and join. I have learned so much from the people there. I have ordered my poster and it is ready and waiting for me. I know that I need to bring a sign in sheet, pins, and pens, etc. It is a great site and I am so much better prepared.

I am thinking of a dissertation concerning blogging and if a student blogs, he/she will be a better writer. I think that just the act of writing helps one to become better at that task. What do you think?

NECC

I am so excited about presenting at NECC 2008. At the NECC ning--there are so many useful hints to people who are presenting for the first time. I hope that you will visit my poster session at 9-11 on Wed, July 2. It concerns how I taught web 2.0 to my teachers. But just going to NECC is a great learning experience. I hope to see you there

Last Day of School

Today was the last day of school for the students. Teachers will finish tomorrow. It seems like we just started this school year. As always, I will miss the seniors and will look to next year's seniors to fill that void. I am looking forward to the summer but it is going to be quite busy. I am teaching summer school for 3 weeks. Then I am going to the Delta Kappa Gamma State Convention, NECC (where I am doing a poster session) and finally a summer residency for my Ph.D. in Minneapolis, MN. School starts the very next week. My summer is all planned. I hope that there is some rest in there.

Delta Kappa Gamma Leadership Training

I completed the first part of Leadership Training for Delta Kappa Gamma today. I learned so much about myself and my Leadership Style. I met some really cool people that I had never met before and now I will look for them every time Xi State gets together. Dr. Hanna Flowers was the leader. She is from Georgia and did an awesome job. I took the Myers Briggs and found I was ESTJ. E-Extrovert, S-Sensory, T-Thinking, and J--Judging. According to that--I am a rule follower, a joiner, have a great work ethic, and love traditions.

For those of you that don't know--Delta Kappa Gamma is a society for key women educators. I would recommend investigating your local chapter if you teach school. Good luck.

Class

I love my night class. They work so hard learning to do new things and applying them to their classrooms. Blogs and wikis are no different. These new learning environments will allow students to communicate with each other so quickly and easily. The students are working so hard to use them. It is the future and we see it coming so quickly. Keep on working to learn new things; your students will benefit.

Blogging

Blogging is a great way to communicate with students. You could write a post and have the students discuss it in the blog. You could put a math problem and have the students work on the problem and communicate with each other about solutions. You could put a creative problem on the blog and have the students communicate creative solutions to the problem. What are other assignments that could use a blog for?
